Amanda and Craig's Wedding Day!

Another fantastic wedding this summer was the union of Amanda Oswald and Craig Dame. The newlyweds tied the knot at St. Peter's church in Plattsburgh and the festivities afterward were hosted by the always excellent Valcour Conference Center. After our photo shoot on the facilities scenic shores, there was an amazing meal which was followed by an evening of music supplied by one my favorite DJ's to work with--Gary Peacock. Kasey and Andrew's historic wedding!

One of the most unique weddings that I photographed this summer was the union of Kasey Kirk and Andrew Favreau. They tied the knot at historic Fort Montgomery in Rouses Point, New York. Several people knowledgable of local history have told me that in the fort's one hundred year plus history, there has never been another wedding held there. They had a lovely ceremony at the fort and then partied the night away at the West Side Ballroom in Plattsburgh. They are a wonderful couple and I really enjoyed working with them. Rachel and Joshua's Wedding Day!

Recently, I had a blast taking Adam Duquette's senior images. I was really happy that we were able to take advantage of the fall foliage. We a lot of fun capturing these images will we dodged the rain drops which came and went for most of our session. A little over a week ago on a perfect Adirondack Fall day, I had the honour of taking some photographs to commemorate the engagement of Kristen Pray and Grant Brassard. Kristen and Grant are both proud members of the Keeseville Fire Department, so we decided to start our session there. After capturing some wonderful images with the (Ahem) encouragement of their fellow firefighters, we moved on to a rustic barn to grab some shots there. We ended our session by getting some shots from the Cliff Haven Beach. I had a blast with Kristen and Grant! We shared lots of laughs and I look forward to photographing them on the wedding day! Katie and Matt's Wedding Day!

Another awesome wedding that we covered this summer was the union of Katie Bodine and Matt Yoskowitz. It was an absolutely lovely affair. The Adirondack themed wedding took place outside with the couples family and friends surrounding them in a huge circle during the ceremony. Afterward the reception tent was hopping as everyone danced the night away. Everything was fabulous--including the enormous oatmeal creme pies which were quite simply, heavenly! A few days ago, I had the pleasure of conducting a senior image session for Emily Adams. We had a blast shooting at the Cliff Haven beach, just south of Plattsburgh! It is a wonderful location that offers everything from sandy beaches to crashing waves and even a babbling brook as you can see in the the attached image of Emily skipping along the rocks. Emily is a lovely young lady with a bright future. I'm glad that I had the privilege of photographing her at this special time in her life. Denise and Lorne tie the knot!

A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of photographing the union of Denise Francis and Lorne Clute. The festivities were held at the beautiful Massena Country Club. Their lovely ceremony ended with the newlyweds and their well wishers releasing butterflies. The butterflies were awesome--many of them susprisingly decided to hang around for quite some time. The one in the picture below actually stayed with one of the beautiful little flower girls for what must have been at least an hour. It was truly a spectacular day which ended with an amazing fireworks display shortly after the equally spectacular sunset that was captured in the above picture. ahhh...Better late than never (right)...this post is long over due! Congrats to Matt & Shallen Brunet!! Married at St. Peters Catholic Church on Saturday, July 17, 2010 with the reception held at the Crown Plaza Golf Club in Lake Placid. Shallen was a stunning bride to say the least..and a pleasure to photograph. What an amazing day....here are just a few of my favorites!!

We took a little pit stop on the way down to Lake Placid....these ladies were GORGEOUS!!

This past weekend I had the honor of photographing my nephew, Westen Thomas. His parents (Tara & Jud Studley) were recently married (which John photographed) and took a short trip out to Vegas, which left Westen with me (and grandma & grandpa too)....YEAH!! I didn't take too many photos as Westen is extremely busy...with that being said, Westen took a short break from the jungle gym at the park and let me see his personality...here are just a few of my favorites!!

I think this is my favorite!! He will be a model some day!!

Amber and Jason's Wedding Day!

This weekend Brett and I photographed the wedding of Amber and Jason. What a great day! The wedding and reception were at the Valcour Conference Center, which if you have tuned in to any of my previous bloggings, you'll know is one of my favorite places to shoot a wedding! The weather teased us a bit, by raining for part of the ceremony, but then gave way to beautiful skies and a wonderful breeze for the rest of the afternoon and evening. After the ceremony we captured some images at the lovely barn seen in the image above, and barn's lodger's were even compelled to come and congratulate the happy newleyweds:)

Afterward we got some fun, unique shots with the bridal party at a place on the Conference Center grounds that I have selfishly dubbed my "secret spot"!

Lastly, we sauntered over to the lake to capture some of the always stunning views that the venue boasts!

Amelia Blatchley's Newborn Images!

Yesterday, I wrapped up a newborn session for young Miss Amelia Blatchley. She is a gorgeous little lady and I am happy to have been able to capture these images. We broke the session up into two days. Last week during my first crack it, Amelia was a little fussy and decided she wanted to stay awake and active for our session. Marie's Belly Shots!

A few weeks ago Brett and I did a maternity photo session for my good friends, Maria and Tim and their soon to be born daughter, Amelia. The shoot went wonderfully. We began by capturing some great images in the room that they have lovingly crafted for Amelia.

Later, we took advantage of the beautiful day by shooting along the banks of the Saranac River and we eventually wrapped up our time together with some fun images on the shores of Lake Champlain. In the weeks after our session Marie and Tim welcomed their beautiful Amelia into the world. We look forward to having having spending some camera time with Amelia very in the next few days.

Kim and Robert tie the knot!

Recently, we photographed the wedding of Kimberly Smith and Robert Larkin What an awesome day! I began my coverage of Kim early in the morning at "Edy's of Course" salon. Afterward the ceremony was at lovely St. Peter's church, followed by a reception at the Valcour Conference Center where they utilized both the rustic boat house and the elegant main house. The conference center nestled on the banks of beautiful Lake Champlain offers unsurpassed vistas and excellent service. Kim and Rob were wonderful to work with! We had a little rain but that's okay because when the rain ended we were treated to a spectacular full rainbow. What more can I say? Awesome couple! Awesome Day!

The Wedding of Salome and Ben

Recently we covered the awesome two day event known as "The Wedding of Salome and Ben". the festivities began on Friday evening where covered an awesome cookout which was catered by the "Barracks" and hosted at "Marine Village" The merriment lasted well past midnight! The next day they had a lovely outside ceremony on the property of Ben's family. The weather was fantastic as the tied the knot with the setting sun providing a backdrop. After the cermony, the reception catered by Anthony's and was held under a beautifully decorated tent. Lori and Morgan Tie the Knot!

Hi everybody. Sorry I haven't been blogging much recently. I've been blessed with staying extremely busy doing one of the things I love most, which is using my camera to create what I hope to be lasting images. Recently, I photographed the lovely union of Lori Dennison and Morgan Brooks. All of the pieces fell together for this one. The weather was fantastic and the scenic vistas of the Valcour Conference center were as always, breathtaking. The event was orchestrated by the wonderfully talented event planner, Linda Appleton. My good friend Brett LeClair was assisting me for the day. Brett is developing into a fine photographer and she was great to have around. Lori and Morgan are an awesome couple and they were a joy to be around all day. Morgan was a dapper groom and Lori, well you'll be able to see from this sampling of images I am posting here how stunning a bride, she was. Valcour is by far one of my favorite places to shoot, primarily because of the abundance of what I like to call mini-locations at one venue. The happy couple was up for anything that I suggested, which I truly appreciate, because it allows for more lasting imagery. Throughout the day we were able to capture what I feel are very memorable images, from the two of them dangling their feet off the dock to wonderful formal portaits of Lori on the shore, including one that I selecting for my increasingly popular "painted sky" technique (hint: its the first one after the post). Lastly at the very end of the evening we were able to capture an intimate image of the couple with a magnificent full moon reflecting off the water in the background. Last week we were privileged to capture the memories for the wedding of Emily and David. It was an awesome day. The wedding and reception were in beautiful Lake Placid and the weather could not have been better! The Wedding of Sara and Steve

Anika and Patrick tie the Knot!!

Recently we were privileged to provide both photo and video coverage for the union of Anika Willis and Patrick Fullum. They are an awesome couple and I along with the rest of my crew had a wonderful time. Anika's mom kept me laughing most of the day and her dad in addition to donning a Red Sox jacket even belted out some tunes with the band (which was awesome by the way). Anika and Patrick tied the knot at the historic Base Chapel on the former Plattsburgh Air Force Base and afterwards their reception was at the wonderful Comfort Inn Grand Ballroom. Recently I photographed the union of Suzanne Tart and Duncan May. It was an awesome day for a wedding. They had a lovely cermony at St. Peters, which is a beautiful church to photograph both inside and out. After the ceremony we made our way to one of my favorite local reception destinations: The Valcour Conference Center. This site boast a bevy of photo opportunities. From the beautiful main house, to the elegant, rustic boathouse, to the unparalleled lake frontage. I had a great time and they are a great couple. I wish them a lifetime of happiness.

Kryn and Jay tie the knot!

Yesterday, I had the honour of photographing the union of Kryn Patnode and Jay Bleeker. They had a lovely ceremony at St. John's church in Plattsburgh. I love photographing at St. Johns. One main reason is because the stonework on the exterior really adds a nice contrast to the colors in the bridal party and helps the images pop. Afterwords we made a short journey to the Comfort Inn and their Grand Ball Room. Their spiral staircase is always a great place for photos and the upper landing provides a great vantage point to capture images of the festivities as the evening wears on. It was a great day and they are an awesome couple! I am attaching a few images from yesterday. Rebecca and Jeremy tie the knot on the waves!

Yesterday, Andrew and I covered the union of Rebecca Couture and Jeremy Asarese. It was a lovely wedding on a lovely day. The happy couple had both the wedding and reception on the "Northern Lights" cruise ship in Burlington. The ship left port at 6:30 and fifteen minutes later they became man and wife while the boat was anchored just off a picturesque island in the middle of Lake Champlain. After the ceremony we had a brief photo session as the sun began to set (we didn't need much time because we had gotten the majority of our "formal" shots earlier in the day at Rebecca's parents beautiful home). On the boat we wanted to make sure that we took full advantage of shooting an event on a ship. At one point, Andrew even shimmied up above the Captain's quarters to get some breathtaking shots from a once in a lifetime vantage point. We finished our pictures just as the sun set, and after that the ship became a giant party boat! Jeremy who is a DJ for "Top Hat" in Vermont had told me at an event we worked together recently, that his main wish for the evening was that people had an opportunity to truly enjoy themselves on this wonderful boat. Boy, did we all! Congratulations Rebecca and Jeremy! We had a wonderful time and I look forward to crafting images to help you remember your special day forever.

We have been getting busier and busier with request for us to provide our imagery for senior photos. I decided that if we were going to undertake this that I wanted to approach it with the same passion that I have for other subjects that I photograph. At Silver Lining, we pride ourselves in creating a images that you will treasure for a lifetime, and we are constantly striving to think of new ways to showcase this our photography and videos. This new blog will provide a venue and voice for seniors while this one will maintain its current focus on the special events and nature part of our business. New Wildlife Collage Wall Prints!

I am happy to announce the newest addition to our nature galleries. These large wall prints were created in direct response to several requests that I've had from people asking for pictures that contained multiple images. I was excited about this and I wanted to make sure that gave each of these pieces their own story. The Bald Eagle one that you see here for example is a sequence of images taken consecutively. The entire sequence were all captured within a span of about three seconds. I have also added the scientific name and the date and location captured. These signed images are only being offered in a 16x20 or 20x24 format, and are the perfect addition to any wall. They can be mounted to a foam board prior to shipping for immediate placement in a frame upon reaching their new home. You can view all of our nature prints for sale by clicking here. Amanda and Stephen rock their wedding!

This past Saturday, Amanda Haley and Stephen Beaudette tied the knot. When I originally met with Amanda she stressed to me that the theme for her wedding was "FUN", and boy did she mean it. From the cookout the day before, to the "party bus" to fireworks at the reception, the day was full of fun and excitement.

The pictures flowed naturally throughout the day, mostly in thanks to their idea of shooting the bridesmaids and groomsmen pictures before the ceremony. This way we only had to focus on the group shots after the ceremony, and we were able to pretty much stick to our goals for time. Amanda also had a beautiful green theme that was evident everywhere, from the ribbon on the cake, the groomsmen's ties , to the limes at each table. All in all I had a wonderful time with a wonderful couple. I wish them both a lifetime of happiness and prosperity. Their final images will be ready for viewing in a few weeks but in the meantime I'm adding a sampling to this post. Katy and Dustin get married!

Katy Lennahan and Dustin Sleeper tied the knot on the 8th of this month. Katy has a photography background as well and is a big fan of photojournalism, as am I. Her hubby Dustin is a great guy with an awesome sense of humor as you'll see in a few of the pictures attached to this blog (particularly the image of all the guys at the bar). Both the ceremony and reception were at the beautiful Valcour Lodge and Conference Center. I love covering weddings there. You have the lake, beautiful lodgings, a rustic boathouse and top notch service. Katy and Dustin's final images will be available in a few weeks but I am attaching a few photos to this post. They are a great couple and I wish them all the best.

Cindy and Mike's Wedding!

A couple of weeks ago, Cindy Jensen; one of my longtime friends and Michael Bruneau tied the knot. I've known Cindy for years, and I was very honoured when she asked me to photograph her wedding. Unfortunately, I had already been booked on that day for quite a while. Luckily "Silver Lining" has other talented photographers and videographers on staff. Carrie and Dave's Wedding Day!

Carrie and Dave are a couple that I had the opportunity to spend a good amount of time with leading up to their wedding. Having done their engagement pictures and pictures during their rehearsal dinner helped establish a key level of comfort when it came time to take the wedding day pictures. This is a huge help to me from a storytelling aspect when it comes to designing the final album

Another huge help to me was having Morgan Roof of Morgan Roof Photography filling the role of 2nd shooter for the day. Morgan is a great photographer and having her services for the day helped me maintain the creative flow for the day. You can view some of her great imagery on her website. The day before their biggest day!

Carrie and Dave tied the knot a two weeks ago. The evening before, I joined them for their rehearsal dinner at the Mooney Bay Marina. I had a wonderful time and between the festivities I was able to get some photo time with the couple. I love shooting at Mooney Bay. The early evening lighting as the sun begins to set is amazing! They have also added a new pavillion this year which provides extra picture opportunities as well. Here a just a couple of pics from the that evening.

Busy Bee

Wow talk about busy! This season was a blast. I was priviliged to have the opportunity to photograph many wonderful couples and provide video for several more. Right now my days (and a good portion of my nights) are mostly spent editing pictures, videos, and designing albums. Last weekend we spent the entire day with Jess and Clark. They had a lovely wedding at St. Peter's in Plattsburgh, and then we jumped the ferry and covered their wonderful reception at the Hilton in Burlington. Last weekend I photographed a wedding at one of my most picturesque places yet. Kelly and Phil were joined in matrimony at the crest of a hill on the historic John Brown farm in Lake Placid. Nestled in the high peaks of the Adirondacks, you couldn't ask for a more beautiful setting. Afterward they had a fantastic reception at the hotel Saranac. Recently we provided photographic coverage for the union of Stephanie Parent and Richard Decker. The ceremony was at one of my favorite venues. The small chapel on the former Plattsburgh Air Force Base. It is a lovely stone building with ivy flowing down its outer walls. I enjoy the buildings intimate nature and the wonderful natural light that flows in. Later we did our formal shots behind Clinton Community College overlooking beautiful Lake Champlain. The Wedding of Amber and Shelby

July 7th 2007 is reported to be the most sought after wedding date in history. We were definitely busy. While part of the Silver Lining Crew was busy filming a wedding at the Gazebo on the Plattsburgh Oval, I was spending the day photographing the wedding of Amber Clukey to Shelby Bigelow. Today is the 1st anniversary for Marie and Tim Blatchley. A year ago today they were wed in the beautiful little chapel on the Plattsburgh Oval. We had a great time putting together their wedding video, a montage from the wedding can be viewed by clicking the links page of our website. On Sunday May 20th my wife and I welcomed our second child, Melina into the world. She is a precious gift from God and she is another reminder to me of the beauty and innocence that can still be found in the world. Wedding days are also full of their own special kind of magic. One of the main reasons that I enjoy having the opportunity to capture images for a couple on their wedding day is that it allows me to be what I like to think of as the "Steward of Memories". I strive to compose each image so that it is a mini time capsule that allows the participant to vividly recall the details pertaining to that image. Here are two images of our new daughter Melina, that will allow me to always remember the circumstances surrounding the pictures.
